Today I logged into my Reddit account to buy some more advertising and they, yet again changed their advertising policy. Now they are charging $0.75 per 1000 impressions! This is f****** bullsh*t and I think anyone using Reddit for advertising needs to boycott until they realize they're f***** crazy. Reddit has been one of the best advertising methods I have used but now it's not worth that ridiculous cost.

Sorry I needed to vent somewhere

The market will show whether they where right or wrong
if people are not making money from the ads, they will stop buying
and reddit will be forced to change their prices

That's what I was hoping. I just started using Reddit for advertising and am getting a unheard of return. But now it won't be worth it. For the amount of impressions I got on my last ad that I paid $20 for it would cost me $212 to get the same amount now.

It's on an impression basis not on a click basis ? ... So i could pay 100 $ and not get 1 click ? :(
Lemme know since I want to buy some advertising soon .

Yes. I paid $20 on my last ad and got 1300 clicks with 282,000 impressions. Now it's a crapshoot

Not sure on that, you'll have to look at their terms. But at this price point, it's not worth it anymore.

A lot of Reddit comments tend to promote Adblock Plus, with that price point, it's definitely more of a risk then it was before. It pays to ride the wave early I guess.

Can you please share what type of services you were advertising on Reddit or what type of services are better for reddit advertising?

Because with the type of marketing I was doing they are raising my CTR by 1000% There is no way that I can make the earnings I was before with this new pricing. I'm not going to go in to what I was posting ads for because the market was literally untapped and not thought of on Reddit, but let's just say for ever $1 I spent on reddit I got a $2.50 return in 24 hours. And I wasn't offering services ;)

Did you look around for coupons? That's too expensive. Not worth the money.

Balls, sounds like I am late to the game.
    Was considering this.

OP, I think you should give it one more shot then come back with your findings.

I'm thinking about it, but I would rather wait and hope that enough people are too pissed to pay for their ads anymore and they change it back. Their ad structure was awesome before, everyone paid in to a pool and whatever percentage you paid into you got that percentage of the traffic. If you come up with a good tagline people are going to click it. It's easy to convert(for me at least) if you're getting a couple hundred thousand impressions. But if I'm only going to get 26,666 for the price I was paying to get over 300k impressions I just don't see how I will be able to make my money back + profit.

What was the rates before. I am curious to know when $0.75 per 1000 impressions is costly, what would be the old price.

Minimum of $20 for un-targeted ads minimum $30 for Targeted.
They gave you traffic based on how much you put in.
Say you put in $100 and their total adspace bought for the day is $1000.
You would get 10% of the traffic

Why only US, UK, and Canadian credit cards? Redditors are from everywhere!

We know. We don't like it either. The reasons are purely legal, and we are working with our lawyers to amend the Terms of Service to include other jurisdictions.
