So I am using Elegant Themes Nexus.

I have set the Featured Image inside the posts, because I want that image as illustration for the presentation of featured posts on the first page. However, I do not want this featured image to show on the actual post page.

Is there something simple in the settings I have overlooked? Or should I customize the actual single post php page?

Im using a different theme, however in the bottom right of your post edit page, is there a section that says "featured image". If so, set the image you want to use in that area.

On wordpress, go to apparence, edit theme, choose single.php, search for a line saying something with featured thumb or anything with thumb and remove the line then click on save. Look on one of your post and it should work.

Yes it is possible but I don't know about your theme options.
I am sure that this can be done on some other themes.
