If I do a small Wordpress website with 5 or 6 articles should I put them as posts or pages for a better SEO?

nice question ... i think this is something i always thought about ... guess it doesn't make any difference .. but never tested ..

The answer is almost always "posts" as pages should really only be used for things like About/TOS/Contact/Directions/other static info.

Actually if you are getting a lot of traffic from a particular post then you might think about making it into a page and maybe add more content to, make it a resource and try to sell something in it.

How can a post be converted into a page? with a plugin? But doesn't it mean putting in danger indexing and ranking?

if its a brand new or new(ish) site, it won't matter for ranking purposes if you copy the content of your post and put that onto a new page then either delete the 'old' post or 301 it to the new page - youve barely got any traffic to the site anyway as its a new site, right?

it's a good question that youre asking though as ive got a similar issue that im pondering over with a webste that has something like 60 pages and im now thinking that some of them should have been posts.

be interested to see a response to your original question from any of the WP gurus on BHW....

Google doesnt really care if its a 'post' or 'page' as long as the content is relevant and properly structured. Its usually the theme/template that makes them seem so different - since post will usually appear in 'blog' section or 'homepage' but pages dont.

Totally agree with you. The main thing is with template SEO. And yeah i think post(by default) have a advantage that is date. It looks good at google search and you can attract the searcher by that :)

There's a plugin called "pTypeConverter" that does it.
However, with something like Window Live Writer, adding to either a page or a post is simple.
I've not had a problem ranking either and doubt there is much of a difference if any at all.
It's all about how WP displays them, to Google they are just independent URL's with content. How the CMS manages them is likely neither here nor there.
Use whichever is most convenient. Like the poster above said. Static front page, About, Contact..easier as a page probably, but even that is not fixed in stone.

I guess Scritty covered it all...

It doesn't matter for SEO.. SEO is just about your content.. header...etc

Page or post it's up to you :)

I would say posts with clean permalinks. And a good domain name. Make sure to choose the right domain name when getting the posts up and the right keyword titles are essential to SEO when building up your very own website. I have used pages for product pages and the products sold so if that is something you are doing try having 1 product page and the rest posts.

there isn't any difference i think between posts or pages. All that matters is the content and onpage SEO
