I'm thinking of starting a WordPre$$ service site and trying to come up with a domain name. I have been searching and there are a great deal of sites that have Wordpre$$ (a lot of older sites too) in the domain name and some use WP. I just want to avoid any problems down the road, like trademark issues. Anyone know?

As long as you are not trying to act as though you are the owner trademark you are planning on using you should find no issues.

Example: If you were to do a Sprint phone review site, you would be fine. If you were to pretend you were Sprint to sell phones, you would not be fine.

Just confirming that this is correct. I own a few domains with brand names in and have had no problems since I don't claim to be associated with them.

Wordpress says to just use "WP" in the domain:

    http://wordpress.org/about/domains/

Wordpress is a trademarked name. If you use the name in your domain they can sue you and take away the domain. This is true with all trademarked company names but not all companies actively go after infringers, thus you have people believing that it is okay to use the trademarked name in the domain. It is not; it is copyright infringement. Some people just get away with it.

Think of something else that goes in line with wordpress.to avoid building your site up and having lots of traffic, making $$$ from it and later got sue wordpress ,it's just one big hell waste of time+money,so better avoid it.
