In WP 2.7.1, I'm trying to edit the header.php so that I can use Brads CPA Redirector but it won't let me.
I go into the editor, open header.php, drop the line in where I need to and voila - where the fuck is the update button?
Underneath the edit frame, it says 'You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information'. I've CHMOD the file to 666, 755, 775, 777, doesn't make any bloody difference. there's nowhere for me to save the updated file.

Can anyone help me before I go mental and shout at my missus, who'll then kick me head in?

Did you refresh the page in the theme editor after changing the permissions? If the button is enabled after making the file writable, the page would need to be reloaded in order for the button to appear (and for that error message to go away).

    Yeh, tried that, didn't work.

The guy I'm trying to sort this for is gonna do a re-install, he thinks he might have screwed something up, there's other stuff he can't get at..
