    Hi,

I sell my own jewlery. The problem is that any other manufacturer can just take my images and post them as stuff he makes and sells (all my photos were already stolen and posted on Alibaba, Aliexpress, etc)

    1. If you were posting your own original content
    2. that those were items that you sold on your own e-commerce

Would you watermark the images to try and limit image theft?
Would that be really bad for likes etc?

    Thanks for your advice

If you're having issues then yea I'd go ahead and add watermarks to them. Adding a watermark to an image doesn't have to make it look unclassy. You can check out the way photographers do it to brand their images. To me it adds to the brand if done correctly (and protects the images at the same time).

Im in the photography niche where i post photos by photographers (they send their work to me for a post) and i always recommend that they add watermarks to their work.
I've had a few encounters of people trying to get featured with photography that wasn't theirs, and ive had my own photos reposted without permission (or a heads up) and without given credit (it was only by chance that i saw it).

watermark your photos it doesnt have to be a fancy logo or look tacky. but try and centre the logo in a way where by it isnt easily cropped out.

I use an watermark app to apply a very simple @xXxXx layer to my photos

    ok thanks
Now I must solve the riddle of a watermark that is neither too easy to erase, annoying or too repetitive............ tough

The way I see it is if you watermark and someone reposts your picture without your knowledge your name gets out there even more. Free promotion. Watermark everything you do, never know the results it could get you.

    Not difficult at all.

place the watermark in the image where it isnt overlapping the subject too intrusively or where it isnt easily cropped out. Dont overthink this, use an watermarking app or paint/photoshop on pc, no need to get fancy just your name/website/instagram tag will be fine.

I was thinking the exact same thing. While you'll never stop people from 'borrowing' your images you can at least watermark them in a way that benefits you. By that I mean make sure that someone could find you easily from your watermark. If you have a twitter account then add @yourtwittername to them.

The image is watermarked and it could help lead some people back to you. Of course you could also add your website URL instead.

On the contrary, it would be like your signature, that it's your product.

No don't do that. You will lose followers.
    Tested at 10/10 accounts.
If you put a watermark somewhere in the corners people can still steel it if they wanna do that.

If someone doing it manually, they wont steal watermarked images for sure and will look for alternatives.

I would. I'm currently building an instagram account and I'm reposting pictures/videos from other accounts even if they have watermarks.
