Ok, I know a website which sells pirated porn (digital download). They have been doing it for about 3 years now. I really want to know how they do that online without a problem. What are their chances of getting busted? How are they actually evading from getting busted? Any theories are appreciated.

Yeah, I would sell them. Would watch them first though. For "research" purposes.

not sure how they are getting away with it online, but a mate of mine sells them on markets etc in the UK, gets busted every 6 weeks or so, £1000 fine and starts again the next day. I dont think the police take piracy too seriously in the UK!?!

Like Bloggeroftheweb says, much depends on the country. There is a guy in The Netherlands that sells cds and dvds at a set price. His discs just happen to be full of whatever programs you want, such as Adobe Master Collection, and many more selections. He says the laws in his country allow him to do it.

Your m8 is very lucky. Police don't really give a shit about piracy, however HM Revenue & Customs do and they will fuck you up big time if they get the chance. And when they do, police are nothing but dogs loyal to their owners. The UK is a very bad place to be selling pirated movies

From what I know about porn (which isn't much) the porn companies do not have any where near as much power as normal Hollywood movie studios. They're not even in the same league. Basically Hollywood and the associated corporations have been able to corrupt governments all across the world. If you "steal" their content and try to sell it, be prepared to face the consequences (as ridiculous as that is).

However with porn stuff you're pretty safe. If anything bad did happen then it would be treated more like a civil lawsuit rather than a criminal one. For example, the porn company in question would send you a cease and desist. If you refused to take down the content they would either complain to your host or try to sue you on a personal level for damages. However if you had a host offshore that was cool about it and the copyright owner could not get your details, then there's pretty much nothing they can do. It's not like normal movies where the FBI would come kicking your door down.

Oh and I think there's also some law about porn that originates from it being illegal on some level and therefore the producers have no real recognized copyright in the eyes of the law. Not 100% sure about that though.

Yeah, a bit strange because porn is a Multi-Billion Business and they can't do a shit about it. I live in the Netherlands to and we can make copies of every dvd/cd of own purpose only. If we are trying to sell it we get busted ofcourse but we can make copies for ourselfs :p

Personally, I'd stay away from porn.

    But to each their own.

I will post an alternative for you not to get busted
    1. get a Liberty Reserve account and upload some funds
    2. Buy hosting (offshore, that will allow porn) and domain (and of course create a crappy email address, just for purchasing the host and domain) with a fake identity and with a proxy
    3. you are completely anonymouse and you can enjoy the cash

I think this way, you won't get busted

If there's any detail that I forgot, please post it here

So what is the difference between Liberty Reserve and say PayPal? Are they offshore somewhere?

This whole off shore pirated porn thing is interesting. As Adlad said, porn companies certainly don't have the backing of any government. As long as your not doing weird or kiddie porn, who's gonna complain?

Let's say I buy server space in Nigeria. (I'm assuming they wouldn't care, right?) I have an online money account somewhere that's in Switzerland. (as an example) I'm sitting in the U.S.. I now upload a terabyte of pirated porn to Nigeria. The money I make is deposited online and is tracked by a computer in Europe. The "goods" and the cash are never in my possession.

How the hell would a porn company in the U.S. convince someone in Nigeria to hand over data that leads back to me?

Liberty Reserve is located in Russia. I think it would be safer if you purchase through them.

Just keep in mind that there is not a fat Federal Warning on all the things that one could sell. Use and offshore host.
