I'm just wondering, I have this really insane job opportunity that I can do full-time, while running internet marketing part-time (yay outsourcing).

The crap part is that the population is low, would you guys apply for a job with a low population, if it pays over 100k a year?

Do you mean you would have to relocate for the job?
And the population of the town you relocate to is only 6000?

The population in my town is 2600 so 6000 would be an upgrade

Is there a bigger city nearby that could be reached within one hour or so?

I guess it depends on what's more important to you - living in a bigger town/city, or the benefits you will gain from the new job.

I'd list the pros and cons, put them in order of importance and use that to make a decision.

Personally, it wouldn't bother me in the least.

I've lived in some big cities around the world and always enjoyed it.

Currently though, I live in a very small town in the heart of the English countryside (population about 10,000) and like it just as much. It does help that it's a beautiful place on one of the best stretches of the Thames though.

There are benefits to both lifestyles.

Go for it and see for yourself. The big plus is that you can still run IM part time. As Trep said, there are benefits to both lifestyles and it really depends on what you would prefer.

If the nearest metropolitan city is not far away (less than an hour drive?) and I get a full time job with 100k a year while being able to do some internet marketing on the side, why would I not go it?
It also depends on your current financial and job situation. From your post it looks like that job interests you a lot, so yeah, go for it.
Low population wouldn't really matter since you'll be working 8 hours job then some on IM so I suspect you won't have much time to socialize... On weekends, though, you can always drive down to the city if you want to party/roam around etc.

basically this, if there is a bigger city nearby for fun times, 100k sounds pretty good
there is a positive side too, you won't spend as much compared to what you would spend in a big city

If Your Family with you & they have No Objection, It is a Good to go for that Job. After all you will be Part time IM too. So 100K plus IM Part Time is Good Income.

My home city is about 50-60000 and I find it perfect for long-term living, especially with the career I want to pursue(exporting different types of services). However, for the most part of this year I spend most of the time in the capital city, which is about 3 million in population and while it has many benefits, I would prefer the smaller city and visiting big cities for business or for fun.

But that is quite a difference... 6000 people is a town or a village if you are in the English coubtry side, but 60 000 is a city, with a totally different daily life.

And I used to live in a small tow nearish to Leeds for almost a year, and I loved it. Such a wonderful community, and loads of places to visit if you needed something different for a change with places like Harrogate, York and Leeds all within approx an hour. (W130SN is probably going to get a map out and start calculating where I lived to see if it checks out :p )

Are you married, bud? If so, what does your spouse think? If not, are you keen on getting married in the near future? The only downside I see is that there may not be the same opportunities to find social events in a town of that size. But as others have said, if there's a major metro nearby, that renders the point moot. I'd also point out that if you're chuggin' away and making good money, you could probably just spring for a trip out to a location of your choice for a weekend here and there, so then there's really no issue. I'd say go for it.

Hey Hey Take the Money and Run!!!!

Yes I would do it. You will adjust and move forward. The money and freedom to do IM on the side will likely outweigh the negatives.

There's a LOT of things you haven't said that could affect the advice that we are all giving you, but given the current info I'd say go for it.

Change is often good. Roll with it and enjoy the ride!

Endure 1 year of living in a small town and then go back to the city and spend that 100k.
    Rinse and repeat.

IMO, you shouldn't be asking us. There are a lot of factors that play in.... what you are currently earning.... what city it is, whether there is a big city near by, your age, median age of that town, whether you have a family or not etc.... gets a lot more complex than that. And of course, it depends whether you like the job or not.

Make a list of all the Pros and Cons.... then decide. We don't have enough info and knowledge of what type of lifestyle you want.

    Just my thoughts...

No, I like getting pussy way too much, and a town of 6k means very little pussy that's not already taken.
