If I used articles from article directories such as ezinearticles.com etc, and post it on my website be penalized for duplicate content?
Otherwise how can I use these articles effectively?
    Need expert advice.

If you are looking to rank in google, this probably isn't the best strategy. That being said, there are many other sources of traffic, so if you are focusing on those, it might not be such of an issue (social traffic, ppc, etc). It all depends what you are going for.

The higher quality manually-reviewed article sites will provide much higher quality scraped articles, but if you're 'white-hatting' then you obviously just need to use these as a base for quick rewrites. Just do quick manual rewrites and re-order the paragraphs. you can then start building up a collection of sentences and paragraphs and start building much larger hyper-spun constructs (which is what our UberToolz UberCubez module is all about; and there are plenty of threads on BHW about this.)

Duplicate content is a widely misunderstood issue, and it's unlikely you'd be penalised for it, but... you will find it harder to rank a page that has duplicate content to other higher authority pages, especially if they've set the author meta tags:

Duplicating the contents is actually one of the black hat techniques used very often by the black hatters.

That wont be a great idea at all. Original contents will stay forever and rest will be punished by Panda for sure..

Probably dozen other sites are using the same article and are ranking higher then you site, so you should rewrite those articles.

If for some reason you really feel the need to use those articles, I would

    1) Write unique content for your website
    2) Write unique content for your Tier1 links
    3) Mash up 10 Ezinearticles, add spintax, then blast that content out to your Tier2's

Realistically I don't see any reason to use the Ezinearticles at all, however this is BlackHatWorld so I completely understand if you feel the need to. I would rather spend the hour it takes to write a solid article for my money site, or the 15 minutes it takes to write a unique smaller article for my Tier1's than I would for the probably equal amount of time it would take to copy and paste and/or rewrite an Ezine article to any useful uniqueness.

If you want to create a site that lasts and has good search engine ranking, create unique, quality content for your users and not just the search engines. Pay someone to write your articles..you'll do much better...
