Would there be any interest in purchasing Reddit bulk accounts and/or votes?

    Hi guys,

over the last couple of weeks I've been developing a tool to bulk create Reddit accounts and to vote on submissions.

For anyone that doesn't know what Reddit is, it's a huge link sharing site with over 50 million active users who can all vote on submissions (upvotes/downvotes). Getting to the frontpage of /all would basically mean you'd receive over a million views on your page.

    Now, to the technical aspects:

It's actually a lot tougher than I imagined, since the registration requires captchas and because of the vote fuzzing that reddit utilizes.

However, I was able to create a good 500 accounts and they all seem to work and haven't been shadow-banned or suspended. To avoid them getting banned in the future, I also made another tool that randomizes the behavior of the bots, which means they submit links, vote on random comments and threads not related to them, subscribe to subreddits, etc... It seems to work pretty well so far.

The trickiest part was (and still is) developing the voting bot. Reddit has a very aggressive anti-spam system that fuzzes the DISPLAYED vote count and randomly changes it. However, the 'invisible' vote count still exists, and even if the displayed votes seem low, the thread (or link) continues rising to the top. My voting bot uses proxies (a sh*t-ton) to vote on a thread. Every 3 or 4 votes it also starts downvoting the thread by a small number and has long delays between votes.

My question to you guys would be now: Is there any interest in buying bulk reddit accounts (since it's really not easy to write your own bot for that)? I'm not selling right now because I know this is the wrong subforum for that (and I'm only asking if there's interest) and I wouldn't sell the vote bots or votes for a while since it's not 100% done yet. Once that is ready and there's enough interest, I'll probably start a site to sell them or sell the bot.

Tell me what you think or if I'm wasting my time.

Of course there would be interest, if you can really provide to someone what you say, you may have a product in your hands, that can bring tons of traffic (also from one of the world's largest sites). Who would not want that ? Try testing the tool with 5- 10 different domains using different monetization methods in all of them and monitor their statistics, then if the results are good you can sale it or even decide to keep it for yourself.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I do realize there is interest for that, just how much tough.
More specifically, I was talking about the accounts rather than the votes, because I'm not sure how many people would buy accounts without any votes.

Anyways, I'll try what you just said with the monitoring. Thanks.

If you could actually create votes that stick then there would be a huge interest, the problem is that reddit is very very good at realising this kind of thing.

Yeah, like I mentioned, it is extremely hard to do. Still working on it, it's not perfect yet...

Exactly. OP, have you gotten to first page yet? I highly highly doubt it. That's why these bots don't exist, because it won't work.

Yeah, I realize this is extremely hard to do. And it's trick too. However, the account creating part works perfectly and I tested it thoroughly. The voting, not really.

I would highly be interested in this. As matter of fact, I only found this forum in google search results when looking for some tool to combat the darn moderators in the news reddit. I have a website, it is not for profit and I try to provide news articles and news analazys to combat all the propaganda in the media. So I started publishing links not only to my site but to other news articles on the web, I just got banned. they delete any link to a news article that criticize israel. It is totally against the whole foundation of reddit, they are supposed to leave it up to the votes but the mods obviously have a censorship agenda. I tried to send a message to the creator of this thread but since i only joined today it wont let me till i post more.
haha I had to edit my post and changed a word to darn because it thought i was swearing.

I found Reddit to be too complex nowadays to be worth investing in. But if you could bring this service, I might be interested.

Then what you have created is near worthless. I am very experienced in creating custom bots - the only website to ever beat me is Reddits upvoting system.

It is incredbily complex. Their algos are insanely accurate.

IMHO it's a case of "be careful what you wish for" by trending on Reddit.

Just like 4-C-h-a-n if the users think you're spamming, advertising or even if they sense a vulnerability they will destroy you.

99% of Reddit traffic is young, low paid hipsters anyway. The reason they hate advertising and have Adblock installed is they don't want to be reminded of all the nice things they'll never be able to afford lmao!

Give a Reddit user $100,000,000 and you watch all that ethical, Prius driving sentiment melt away as they spunk $100,000 on a super yacht. It's easy to be a hipster when you have nothing in your bank account.

Facebook / Twitter / Instagram are the places to find people with money, twas always thus

If I'm writing a secret algorithm to detect people gaming my site (and I've built reasonably big sites), I'm going to look at the IP addresses themselves, not just that they're unique.

I'll bet that 3/4+ of reddit's traffic is mobile and that, (for easy math), let's say that 1/4 is desktop isp, 1/4 is wifi via phones with 3g/4g off...

So one could reason that 1/2 is mobile from carrier ip addresses. If you send 100 votes and 0% come from VZW, 0% come from ATT, no Sprint, no Tmob... Hmm these votes look like garbage proxies to me. That's all it would take to shut all these attempts down. It doesn't take calculus to see that a number that's normally 20% with a standard deviation of 4% is much lower on your post... diluted by fake votes.

Then a flag is set, moderator or admin can look into it and expose or bury as they see fit.

I'd be interested in doing it correctly.

Reddit is open source guys. Programmer gurus of BHW CAN build an upvote bot where the votes actually stick.

It's "open source" like android is "open source". They leave out the connection calls to googles APIs, authentication, etc. Reddit does the same thing. They still protect themselves from people trying to game them. I believe reddits algorithm is based on (Logarithm of up minus down) - time. But that has nothing to do with their security. Unless you want to put in serious effort, it's not going to happen. Also, you could spend your energy doing more viable things to market that you would've wasted trying to game reddit.

The reddit alghoritm doesn't work only with number of votes, you need to be reputed by the system (in term of numbers).
So, if you've quality accounts I think you can sell well this kind of service.
