I have made a lot of readings from this post and become interested to do dropshipping. I want to get an extra income but do not have enough money to make my own business.. I do not have my own products to sell but i can sell anyone's product.

Can anyone tell me where to start? Thanks.

I have a feeling I'm not the only person that's going to tell you that market research is going to be your first and most important step in putting together an ecommerce or dropshipping business. The post above alluded to that in the guide, but I would say that will be your biggest first step, simply figuring out what you want to sell and what product will be most feasible for you. If you don't have the money to invest in purchasing product and want to pursue dropshipping as you mentioned above, then I'm thinking a low competition high-ticket item may be your best bet. Also, if you're going to create a store, I would think about adding lots of social proof to make it seem as if hundreds and thousands of people are regularly buying from your store. That will go a long way towards increasing consumer trust and conversion rates. Just my 2 cents.

Basically you are going to want to find someone who will wait until you sell it then ship it out for you.
Really it comes down to trust in this situation.

The first step should be to get a RELIABLE supplier. Dont go for price but go for reliability. You don't want to end up with a bad face if your supplier isnt able to provide the products after you get the orders....and then go for marketplace thing. Do proper research of the product before promoting it.

I really appreciate all your kindness to share your knowledge. However, I have read that one must be a POWER SELLER so people can trust you. How could that be possible if I'm just starting? Any views? Is there any way we can do it faster?

The rules for Powerseller status are not a secret. For example, on the UK site you just need a sales of £2000 and 100 transactions (and no strikes, account paid up etc). Buying, and then immediately reselling a few laptops will get you to the £2k mark pretty quickly. To get to the 100 sales, just head over to the wholesale category or go around a car boot sale and find smaller cheaper items to resell. I read on another thread that second hand jewelry is a quick way to build feedback.

I'm a TRS and it doesn't seem to have made a any difference to my sales, there are other things that have a bigger effect. Ebay still offers a lot of 'insurance' for customers in case a sale goes wrong.

Okay.. I also have read that after having completed your own website.. the first thing you need to do is to make your website be on the top results when being searched .. most people refer this to SEO .. keywords.. can somebody kindly explain about these things in a much simpler terms? and what are these tools they use to scrape? i have been reading a lot of articles but I find it hard to understand because i am just a noob and not familiar with the terms they use.

    Thanks for being patient.

dont only think about drop shipping programs. if there's a certain product you'd like to sell or nics he area just look at companies that sell taht stuff and contact them directly. oftentime they'll have a program setup and just dont advertise it or they may be willing to negoitiate a deal directly with you.

It isn't that easy to find a drop shipper that is <a>reliable and <b> low priced enough for EBay competition. My advice is to test some in a niche without a lot of competition. I played around with dropshipping a bit, but I prefer to control my inventory.
