    Hi,

I'm setting up a tv show site. It will have tv shows related to the niche I've chosen. Should I host my TV show files on some site like rapidshare, mediafire or megaupload or should I host somewhere else? What's the best place to get TV shows? Torrents? Usenet? Irc? Ioffer? Somewhere else?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Make sure the TV shows your hosting are original and not widely averrable elsewhere. For example, don't do South Park.

    2. Do streaming videos, not downloading. If people wanted to download shows they would use Torrents or limewire.

    3. Host off server or host off shore. Make sure the files aren't hosted on your server if you're located in the US, Canada, or any other major country. You can, however, host them on your server if the server is located somewhere else like Sweden. Lot's of people will disagree with me on this, but no one is going to do anything unless your site is massively popular.

    4. Best place to get TV shows would be a Private Torrent tracker. Usually shows are uploaded on them within 20 minutes after the show airs and download speeds range from 1mb/s to 3mb/s. There are lots out there, PM me if you want a link to the one I use.

    5. Don't be ambitious by setting up a site and planning to host 100 tv shows. Start with 1 show and go from there.

    Jasonac2,

I really appreciate your advice. Do you know of any good off shore hosts or private torrent trackers. I'm a member of Demonoid, and they have some stuff. I also am going to revisit the Usenet route. Thanks for discouraging me from going with 100 tv shows. I think I'll start out with a few, with a few episodes of each.

    Thanks again. Very valuable advice.
