    Would it be harder for me to SEO a website ending in .ws opposed to if it ended in .com?

    Yes.

    Easier -> Harder

    gov/edu/mil -> c.o.m/net/org -> Others

    There is no difference in domain extension any extension can rank high.

    I have many .biz domains outranking .com's ant others.

    You should more worry about keyword in domain.

    There is actually a difference IMHO. b.i.z can rank better than c.o.m, of course, but it's harder, not impossible. Domain is one of the ranking factors, but there are plenty of others.
