Would backlink idea work?

Hey all,

I was thinking, would the following work out?

Let's say I am starting a new site of a particular niche. Now the biggest sites (competitors) will NOT agree to let me buy ads on their site or links. Understandable.

However, they will sell backlinks to other sites. Now let's say I make a website whose sole purpose is to be an intermediary. It will have content of course and appear real, but be general enough they would accept it buying links from them.

I would then place a one-way link from this site to my niche site I originally wanted to buy the links to.

Obviously, it wouldn't benefit as it would from having the links directly, but do you think it'd still receive beneficial results ?

EVen better... you could buy a link to your intermediary and then after a few days, 301 redirect it to your original site (and pray they dont notice!)

That sounds like a great idea in theory. Would the link still count as a link from a relevant site though?
