Funny you say this, I remember reading something proclaiming the theory that hollywood movies are programming us to react a certain way to being shot with a gun. For example to fall to the ground instantly when you have been shot. When in reality at the moment of being shot, your body is rushing with adrenaline that will give you the strength to defend yourself / flee. But in movies, whenever someone is shot more often than not, they fall down to the ground, wasting all the power that would be rushing through them at that moment. And thus it's conditioning me and you to think that, when I'm shot I should just fall to the ground and cower.
I think the article also mentioned a story where a mother was shot, retreated somewhere (didn't fall down and give up), grabbed her own weapon and returned fire killing the attackers.
