    Hi there,
I am thinking about doing an internship at a local Online-Marketing company! Is anyone of you guys working for such a company and would you recommend it? Is it worth the effort or is it rather boring and won't educate me any further?

Just like to read some experiences!

    Thanks!

Dont waste ur time. I work at one of said companies and the irony is the bigger and more successful the company the less they know about the internet.

You literally have access to million dollar info that ppl at "online marketing" companies will never get or understand even if you told them.

Seriously? What a pitty, was kind of excited to start my internship. But if it's true what you say, how do they even make money if they have no clue whatsoever?

Would be nice if some other people share their opinion as well, thanks to you realgangstas.
    Cheers

From my experience here in the UK, the vast majority of established Online Marketing companies actually know very little about, well, online marketing. They pretty much take money from people who aren't technically aware, and feed off buzz-words and such.

Drawing from my experience it is usually the case is that the CEO was at the right place at the right time. Back in 1990's when most of the world was clueless about the internet. A talentless entrepreneur, or "lucky" as I like to say. Which is fair enough.

The above is my limited experience of course.

Should you do it or not? Depends if you're a wolf or a sheep. Bare in mind that the top dogs will be getting paid very well from your knowledge and interest, and you won't earn a dime.

How do you mean that? Isn't that the exact opposite of what JimmyWong was saying?

    Cheers

You hit the nail on the head bud.

To the op, the sad reality is "online marketing" for fortune 500 firms is run by "agencies" who just throw around buzz words and have absolute zero clue. They win business because clients are even dumber than them.

You will be paid almost nothing when starting out while your bosses will earn $X,XXX,XXX. I literally have my bosses ask me the dumbest questions, I answer based on my exp and time spent on bhw, and they literally regurgitate what I said back to the client.

At the very least this experience may be good for you to see for yourself how big of a joke this shit actually is out there
I plan on breaking out of this jail very soon, and am just saving you the headache.

    Best,

    RG

You might know more than them about the ins and outs of internet marketing and SEO. Most likely you don't know how to run a million dollar online marketing business.

I would learn what you can from them about how they structure their business.
