Wordpress question

Forgive my noobishness at this whole wordpress thingy, but i noticed that it costs $10 per year for domain mapping. Im a cheap ass... so is there anyways to get around this? Kamille was talking to me about value applications, dunno how to do that though. I changed my nameservers to wordpress servers, 3 of them. Can anyone please help me with this? I have no idea where to get value applications.
