I am not sure if i am missing here. On most of my blogs - wordpress posts rank much better than categories. Actually home page and categories few months after i start a site complete looses rank, even though they have most links and i use static pages so i can get them ranked.

When a category looses rank, on its place come a post from my blog - even category is much more relavant for a keyword than the post. Also category has more link juice, more external and iinternal links. This isn't an over-optimisation penalty - as the same happens with a category that has no external links.

My thoughts are that google simply doesn't like wordpress category pages even if static content is used on them. The worst thing is that homepage looses rank. It should rank the best - but i now have to accept that it is gong to loose rank after some time.

How do you guys overcome this problem. Should i maybe use just posts for whole blogs?

What about home page? I didn't saw much wordpress blogs ranked for their homepage keywords.

I have a somewhat similar question. How do I rank for my main keyword of my article (wordpress post) on my home page, if there are 4 other articles (wordpress posts) on the home page as well? Wouldn't that drop my keyword density down considerably for the main keyword I'm trying to target if there are 4 more articles on the home page? I'm thinking about making my 4 other articles static pages, where I can put each one in the navigation bar on top...

Some people say that only posts should be back-linked.

Now i am not really sure should i even use category pages on my blog.

That's what i'm going to do for my new site. Add the articles as static pages in navigation bar... and then use my categories as product reviews...hoping it will work well
