Hi guys, I've got a question hopefully someone with more experience than myself knows something about. I'm sure you guys will, because you rock.

Here's what's going on, I have a wordpress blog, and I'm ranking in google #4 for my keyword I want, which is pretty sweet, but i'm ranking the main site www.domain.com site for this keyword and the post url isn't anywhere on google as far as I can see.
I just started the site, but I'm going to be adding a lot more to it, and I would like to rank the individual post url instead of the main domain url.
I've got the all in one seo plugin going, but I don't see anything about how to go about no-indexing the latest posts/homepage url.

Isn't this something I should be doing for what I'm doing to make sure I'm not creating duplicate content in google's eyes?
    Any help is always appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean, do you have 2 different sites with the same content?

You could use robots.txt (if you trust google):

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /mysupersecretpost/

Or htaccess if you're more serious:

make .htaccess file and put this in the file and put it in the directory you want to block:

    deny from all
    allow from 12.34.56.78 (your IP)

now only you can see it.

You might want to find a plugin to help you with this. Find one that only shows excerpts on your main page and not the whole article with a link at the bottom to the rest of the article so google doesnt see the article twice on your site. Is that what you mean?

    I have just 1 site....when I create a post in wordpress, that post get's it's own url %postname%
so it ends up being something like... www.domainname.com/post title.....

when I search my keyword in google..instead of getting this post url, it's just showing my www.domainname.com instead, and not showing the www.domainname.com/post title url. so I figured that maybe it's because my homepage/latest post page, and my actual post title page are conflicting with eachother over duplicate content?

I'm not sure if I'm right on this or not, but it's just an idea.

yeah, I think this might be what I need, I don't want the same content showing up twice.....once on my home page, and once on my actual post page.
