Are you a wordpress.com blogger?
So you have your own domain?
Do you attract a lot engaged traffic?

If you said "yes" to the above questions then you need to know that Wordpress announced that they will implement an ad system for Wordpress.com bloggers (not people who use wordpress in general) that have a custom domain. As they say:

"you deserve better than AdSense"

Looks good, but they are new to the business, so I will take time before giving them a try..

This should make WordPress truckloads xD

Just starting to use WordPress hopefully some time in the future this will come in handy.

Just saw this. Anybody get in to their program?

Adsense may be a pain but it gives a far higher CPC than most other ad networks I have tried.

I remember trying out Adbrite for a site in 2010. While I had Adbrite I received around 17,000 views and I only made 2.5 dollars.

As for WordAds, I'm going to wait a couple of months and see how people respond to it.

but who of you has a custom domain mapped? if not you need to register one for $17 or map one you have $12. would be interesting to see how much they pay if you can actually make that back or they only pay .01 per click.. lets see

So, their system is just for wordpress.com blogs?
Or can you just create a wordpress.com account and sign up for your own hosted wp blogs?

I think you need to keep your account on wordpress.com but have your own domain (for example Boingboing does that). IF you have good targeted traffic then you may have a WordAds account and some "premium" publishers contact you for advertising and placement.
So if someone has a shitty blog for links only, they cannot expect to monetize it. This is for serious blogs and websites only from what I understand.

looks promising from an advertiser POV but as a publisher I doubt the CPC / CPM will perform better than good old Adsense.

Like I wrote above just read the official link
"Only publicly visible blogs with custom domains will be considered for this program"
"On WordPress.com, you can use a custom domain for your blog, such as example.com, instead of the default address you get when you sign up, like example.wordpress.com. This is called Domain Mapping, and it's a paid upgrade:
Registering a domain through WordPress.com and mapping that domain to your blog costs $17.00 per domain, per year. For $8.00 more, you can also make the domain registration private.
Mapping a domain you already own costs $12.00 per domain, per year."

So you need to pay either $17 or $12 unless you have a custom domain already, which I would not see a reason for.

I hope "WordAds" will get success. Even I want to remind that earlier (in 2007 not remember exact) PayPerPost tried challenge to Google Adsense by offer text link advertising. PayPerPost is live and offering text adverting as well but now link price is very low. To know how it happened visit:

oh my god.. i can't wait this one.. because adsense really-really heart me a LOT.. thanks buddy..

My analysis:

Probably won't benefit many on BHW. Why? Most on BHW will probably be using a wordpress.org installation which apparently doesn't qualify, and even in that case Adsense probably still pays better than WordAds.

Doesn't seem it's good for noobs either, since it needs to be a custom domain and the blog needs to be quite popular.

Competition is always good for biz. I'd love to see Microsoft come out with a major network as well. Three major networks would equal a much more level playing field.
