    Hi all,

Is there any advantage (SEO wise) of using wordpress to manage my blog on my own hosting compared to a custom built blog that I can integrate into my admin panel?

    Thank you for your help.

Wordpress is a pretty SEO friendly CMS, and the amount of plugins already available can save a ton of dev time. I wouldn't say there's any SEO benefit in using it over anything else though, it's really down to personal preference.

Why wasting time to develop custom blogging solution when there is already invented one and it really does a great job? Well, unless you need different setup and custom features not available in WP..

I have an admin area I would like to manage the blog from. Wordpress would mean logging into a separate system. However, I want the best solution from an SEO perspective.

    Twchase,

As far as SEO, search engines don't really care whether you are using a CMS or a custom built solution. The question you should ask yourself is what benefit will I get out of using a CMS like Wordpress over building a custom website or vis versa. As other members have mentioned, with Wordpress, you can cut a lot of development time out of the equation and there are also a lot of plugins for SEO related tasks among other things. There is also a lot of support out there for when things aren't working.

With a custom solution, you don't have to make pretty much everything from scratch or fine arbitrary code around the web to make what you want. I guess the upside here is that you don't have to develop within the Wordpress framework although you can pretty much bend wordpress to your will anyway.

If I were you I would go the CMS route. In this business, anything that can save you time and still make you look like a superstar is the way to go.

Here are some other opinions in this thread,

    Hope that helps you,

    Shawn
