OK for a section in my final tonight we were suppose to backup our wordpress with sql or w/e and upload the same info that's on database one on another database.

K let's say sub1.domain.com WP1 is my 1st database and it has 5 posts. He wanted us to make a sub2.domain.com and have different database being WP2 to be exactly like database 1 with posts and all.

What I did wrong was that I didn't upload wordpress on the second database to put the backup so he gave me a chance to do it after school.

I did it right through myphpadmin or w/e and uploaded the backup to WP2 and went to wp_options and changed the link from sub1.domain.com to sub2.domain.com like it's suppose to but then when I go to sub2.domain.com it's just blank :( :(

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! +REP AND THANKS A MILLION TIMES:fest30:

I moved a site once from a subdomain to a new different domain. When I did it I set up wp on the new domain and then did a backup of the db on the old subdomain and restored it on the new domain. At first it didn't work. But when I looked in the database I saw that there were a few fields containg the old subdomain name instead of the new domain name. I did a search for all instances of the old name and then replaced them with the new name. After I did that everything worked fine.

Don't know if that will help you or not, just the closest experience I had to what your doing.

ok here you go. Log onto your old word press site. click on tools and then export make sue you select all authors and then download export file.

This copies all picks links and post that are on your old site. If you are using a custom templete then user your ftp editor and copy the templete file that you are using.

now go to the new server load wordpess and install it. ONce you have installed it then click on tools when in the admin section then import. Once you do this all links post and picks will now be live on the new site.

Then if you had a custom design go into the theme section after you have used the ftp uploaded and loaded your custom theme then select it in the admin theme section.

Hope this helps if you have any questions please let me know.
