Sometimes a script works. sometimes it doesnt. the intermintency of js and wp is ridiculous. I tried a plugin last year that was supposedly make js work with wp smoothly but turned out to be garbage. what is the deal with this. any tips to make js work with wp?

Are you using jquery? Jquery has changed a lot over the years ( or should I say months)... Many scripts won't work after 1.5 or so ( or 1.6 may b, can't remember properly)...
    What's your problem btw?

I faced JS issues only after I have enabled 'minify JS' settings in W3 Total Cache. I get rid of those errors/strange things by disabling minify JS.
If you're using a cache plugin check for this or similar settings.

If JS comes into the game, it causes problems if not implemented properly. Different libraries for different features are not working very well together + you downgrade your browser compatibility and increase loading time in many cases.

JS is sexy, yes, but to be used carefully and with wisdom.
