With the new given rules on overdoing SEO and unnatural backlinks to one's website, we can easily kill our competitors website. We don't need any details of our competitor we just need to blast our competitor's website in some highly irrelevant websites and voila the website is gone. Huge penalty!!! What is this? Why is google giving such an oppotunity?

People in future will fear to rank their websites because you never know your website can be penalized by your competitors also.

If Google continues in the direction they are going right now, two things will happen, neither of which will benefit the searcher or the SEO, or even Google.

What will happen is the first page of the google SERPs will look like crap, no one will get rankings easily, it will be almost impossible to control a website at the first page.

Seo will die with the rise of negative SEO will make it so impractical and risky to rank that very few people will bother with the risk.

So why will people bother ranking when they can buy some great unnatural links for your website at $5 from fiverr and watch your site go down.

I am not saying that this is the end of SEO or Google, what I was trying to say is Google should be careful before making such type of an update.... "Leveling the playfield" is what Matt Cutts said... Is this the way to level a playfield.

With all these things I just got the feeling that Google is forcing us to go to their advertisement system. What do you BHW member feel after reading this?

could be true, but its a big conspiracy and conspiracies that big are hard to contain...all it takes is one google employee that is fired or resigned and the conspiracy is out for the public to read about on the new york times home page....

    still could be true...

this would be a public relations nightmare for google...

    1. Google is well aware of "negative SEO" and I don't think it's something they will just let happen. There are so many threads popping up now talking about crap like this, but the reality is that Google is not just going to make it that easy for anyone to use SEO to damage competitors.

    2. Google has always focused on making people use their advertising platforms and will continue to keep pushing people towards it more and more. That is how they started making all their money, and it still pulls them in loads of $$ every day. Ranking sites organically gets people tons of traffic for free and is a privilege that is reserved only for those that take the time to learn how to truly game Google and their algorithms.

    3. Google and Matt Cunts are notorious for giving out false information, so you can't believe anything they say automatically. The only way to know what works is continually test, track, and tweak your campaigns.

    4. Google is not just throwing out automatic penalties and de-indexing sites for using certain types of backlinks. They are just devaluing the backlinks. The only exception would be link exchanges and paid links which Google hates because they are blatantly unnatural.

    5. Backlinks are still one of the biggest factors in ranking. You just have to do it right.

Ranking non-EMD sites on page 1 within a month is not that hard. All it takes is understanding what Google wants, understanding how their algorithm works, and a good plan of action.

There are also lots of other sites that Google loves which you can exploit to get rankings extremely quickly.;)

Where you send that traffic is completely up to you.
