with the new changes would you say using GWT and GA is safe?

    im talking about MFA sites and affiliate sites with clickbank products etc.

    nothing blackhat, unique content.

    Heres a tip : Dont use more than 1 site on GA, if you use 2 my guess is that if one of your sites goes down by google, other one will too

    thats extremely inconvienient to swap google accounts just to check analytics...

    yeah so its actually better to use a self-hosted solution like piwik.

    it would be really over the line if google looks up your sites in GA and penalizes them just by that...

    The problem I have with Piwik is that it leaves a pretty evident footprint in your source unless you install a new installation of Piwik on every domain being tracked (which uses a lot of server resources and slows down your site).

    maybe. but its really hard to confirm, and a case study is inconclusive here. so possibly no good solution ;)

    the thing that attracts me to GWT is the number of backlinks though

    By using GA GWT you're playing by their rules, and they have more resource to make sure that's the case.

    There are a lot of other alternatives such as statcounter.com or getclicky.com that would suit you well. Even with those I use one website per account, if the tracking code seems the same...

    What is GWT?

    I use stat counter, and its actually not all that bad. I like GA better but have readt too many stories

    GA= Google Analytics
