Hey guys so something I have been doing for awhile to protect my ROI on link building campaigns (in the case of cancelling clients or penalties etc..) is to use a domain as a 301 buffer for any valuable link building efforts before my money site or some tier 1's.

I wonder now if the domain i use for this purpose has to be an aged domain in order to pass along the intended juice?

I imagine factors such as having that domain deindexed or indexed may impact this but my searches so far have not produced any solid information on the matter, would any of you beautiful people please care to share some input?

    Cheers!

    Hi,

For me 301 is a lottery right now, sometimes it works, sometimes not. You can also consider 302 redirect - works same as 301 right now.

interesting.. for example sometimes i buy services here on BHW for $100 -$200 which I send to a 301 before hitting money site/tier 1.. I don't want that money to be wasted on a 301 which cant carry link juice as many of these services arnt happy to be changing urls after placement.. any more thoughts?

Very good question, I would love to know that myself, but speaking about 302s I believe It's more like doing differencing than as whole new campaign

New domains will transfer the link juice as well. However, there's no guarantee that they will. Do a test with a fiverr gig if you are dubious.

    - Register 2 new domains
    - Use one as a money site for a low competition keyword
    - 301 the second one to the first one
    - Send a GSA blast from Fiverr to the 301ed domain

You'll get your answer after you see the result of the test.

This is a fine idea I was overlooking that the current "waiting period" doesnt apply to the less competitive terms this will be a good way to test before creating any valuable links.

Always very helpful seo power cheers!
