With a budget of 500$ for backlinks, should I build my own blog network or use services?

I created a few sites and am building manually backlinks from nieche relevant blog comments for the first month. After the 1st month I want to use some bigger guns to target my main KWs and get them ranked.

The trend seems to be to rank through (high) PR private blog posts. The problem is, that my budget for link building is limited right now to about 500$. So would rather buy some PR2 and PR3 expired sites with a good backlink profile or would you use some backlink services in the beginning until I have a few k and then invest in a private blog network?

My fear of building it right now is that I invest all my budget in buying sites, but the link juice wont be strong enough to get my sites to the top3, since with this budget I can mostly afford some good PR2 and PR3, plus maybe a few PR4s. Also, I have only 6 sites right now. I think an own network makes more sense if you have 20+ sites, especially if your budget is limited.

THerefore, I tend now to use some services like a pyramid from Sherlock hacks or private blog posts from seoguy99 or Zso, since these guys have amazing reviews and their link juice will be much stronger than from my own network.

    What do you think?

Buy services. That budget is not high enough for you to do everything yourself, you'll need more than just your time to do it.

    Thanks!

I forget to mention that these all are low competition KWs. With how much $ do you think I can consider building an own network?

Also, do you have some personal recommendation for the services?

I was about to ask this same question. I was looking at expireddomains and was thinking of buying PR2+ domains and placing my links on around 20 sites.
I thought it would maybe save me money on buying services, as i could place a few of my different sites links on them, but there seems to be quite a bit more involved than i thought!

I think i will try a couple of services.

The idea of buying domains with the price seems to be right! But Do you think maintaining the blogs with fresh unique articles, who.is protected, different private name servers & moreover allocating them to different c class US IP's, blah blah..

It really looks simple when we just see to it, but there is much work & manpower involved in building private blog post network.. You will get much difficulty (if and only if you build network for the very first time)..

I recommend you to try any of high PR blog posting service in BST section :)

OP, firstly diversify your link portfolio and then go for the High PR sites.

Diversification is good to be protected from unnatural link building from google.

First, I think it is better to have domains that haven't been dropped.

Second, the better ones will cost you at least few hundreds (PR4 and above with good link profile).

Third, if you are planning to have your money site for the long run, then I recommend to have both, your own private network and buy some high trust/authority/PR links.

Now, regarding your budget, I think you can find few good PR2 and PR3 but their impact will be slower and lower than buying higher quality PR links right now. Buying few good links, will be a good indication for you whether they work and increase your confidence in the link building approach you chose.

Remember, it's not just PR but the trust/authority juice that will help you rank better and faster... and will be sustainable.

I read often in the last few weeks that diversification may be a reason for a penalty, because if you have many links from many sources, the risk would be much higher to get caught compared to having 10 links from high PR blogs.

    What do you guys think?

The risk is higher when the many sources have low trust or in other words are crap.

Diversification is important but it is not a replacement for trust and authority.

Accoring to Google Quality Guidelines creating links that weren't editorially placed or vouched for by the site's owner on a page, otherwise known as unnatural links, can be considered a violation of our guidelines.

Google is getting better at determining when a link is a true editorial vote for a site and when it is simply a self-made link. My personal belief is that many self-made links that used to help improve rankings are now simply ignored by the algorithm and also there is google's Unnatural Links Penalty .

    I agree with princevisi

    1. Dont go for expired domains
    2. Give it some time do it the natural way
    3. Write 4/5 very good articles around your main keywords you are trying to rank for .Dont skip this part

Suggestion, get a job and save another 500. Then put 500 or 600 into a blog network, you could probably get around 10 sites for that price, and the rest into a couple of services like sherlock, thehoth, etc.

I don't think your budget goes close to building the type of network that would rank you... buy services, make rank, make bank :)

Lots of great pros here on the marketplace. Have a look at their threads and judge for yourself, it's really not easy for me to recommend one or another. If they're low competition, don't overdo it at first...give them some time. I'd start with a few blogs(3 or 4) and work it up slowly, building links with time. Don't buy 1 million link blasts at first, it'll raise flags.

$500 is not enough for building your private network even it is a low competitive keyword. Invest on other services, bank and then come back for your private network.

As above fellow members said, that its not easy to maintain your network in the price range you mentioned. Plus there are several things you need to do along with just buying domains. I would suggest you to go buy good blog posts from marketplace,Make some money and then think of owning your own private network. Gud Luck
