I have never envied mac users much, even though I've found their design and look stunning, the thought of switching allegiance has never entered my mind.

Until now..

What's caused this is the excellent screen capture software called Screenflow. The things this software can do is absolutely amazing, and the price ($99) is unbelievable. Camtasia is 3 times that and doesn't accomplish half of what the software does.

Video marketing is will only grow so i am wondering if i should give a mac a go.

What do you guys say? Any mac users in here?

Dedicated MacBook Pro user here and I would never think of using anything else. Ran a business back in 2001 that was heavily dependent on my system being up and running. Continually had the blue screen of death issue, crashes etc. My system finally got a virus that it couldn't shake, I lost thousands of dollars over a 2 weeks period, switched to Mac and have never looked back. That was a long time ago, things have Windows machines have improved, but for me...the Mac is a far superior and stable system.

Everyone has their opinions and their passions...mine is the Apple platform. Sorry for the rant but I'm a really dedicated user and a firm believer in their products.

mac is better, and now with bootcamp you can run windows on them anyway

Thanks for the response guys. I may in the future give macs a go but for now is there anyway i can run a mac program like screenflow in windows?

Sorry but it won't work. You can run Windows programs on a Mac but not the other way around.

Yeah innocent is right. I also would recommend a Mac. I got my Macbook Pro for college and I won't ever use a Windows machine again (unless I have too..ew). But the great thing is you can also run Windows and OS X side-by-side on Macs. Make the switch!

i think i'm the only one here who was working on macs for 3 years, freaked out completely with all that crappy apple hard & software, bad support and all the crashes and so went back to windows...

man i could write a book about why apple sucks... but i you're fine with it: no problem. it's good to have a choice! actually it's important to have competitors to drive innovation!

but "I aaam a PC! AAAAND I LOOOOVE THIS COMPANYYYYYYYY!"

I agree with mastermike.

Both have their ups and downs, but the main thing is that they both exist so we have choices!

Variety makes life that much better.

I just got a PC but I've been using Mac. I forgot how much Windows sucks.

I am really impressed by the speed at which screenflow produces it's videos. I think one could create at least 20 videos a day with this software.

Screenflow owners, here's an idea:

1. Transfer a plr article into powerpoint, then create a flashy video presenting it. Keep video to about 2 minutes

2. Do the above 10 times a day

In 1 month you'd have created 300 videos

You'll get 2 unique visitors a day from each video

(2x300) 30 = 18000 uniques a month

Even if your offer converts poorly (0.5%), you'll make 90 sales

Stick a $47 plr product up there and thats $4230 a month on complete autopilot after the first month of making the videos

Make 600 videos (2 months work) and you make $8460 a month

What do you screenflow owners think.

If you follow through and make money, make sure you buy me a beer:)

Can you use your mac webcam (for macbook etc) for screenflow?

yes you can. i use it all the time and it works like a charm.

now for my two cents...

i bought a pc awhile back JUST to use camtasia. i loved it and still do though i have not used it in about 4 months. i have been traveling and using my mac. i bought screenflow because i thought it was the equiv of camtasia. granted it does make making simple vids easy, especially with keynote (powerpoint equiv), but i found camtasia to be better in editing the final piece, adding callouts--if you need them, and sizing the recording image. with screenflow you have to record the whole page then resize when editing which, to me, does not always come out the size i would like it to.

dont get me wrong, i use it and like it and it will not stand in your way if you want to make money with vids! but camtasia to me is still a slightly better tool...

I love my macbook!!!
Here's a 1.2.1 version:

Techsmith is the company that makes Camtasia.... Here is a piece from there website:

"Will Camtasia Studio be available for the Mac?

We are actively pursuing a Mac version of Camtasia Studio and will officially announce our intentions soon."

So you will have choices for Camtasia, Mac, Windows, whatever. I hesitantly agree with the above about the upside of having choices. It probably forces competition between the companies and pushes them to make better products. Unless of course you "upgrade" Windows XP and go for Vista... LOL had to get that jab in there!

frojat, I tried opening your share, but it said I couldn't use the program on my version of Mac OS X... I'm on version ten.four.eleven.

Yeah, Screenflow is Leopard only. I wouldn't upgrade for Screenflow alone, but if all of the software you use runs in 10.5+, I'd go for it. Some speed increases and lots of added features.

I have a MacbooK.

I will say that it's a great machine. But you should get AS much as HD space, strong proccessor, As much as RAM possible (quality ram too), hardcore graphics card, hardcore CPU, and kickass sound card to go with it.

You should ALWAYS ALWAYS try to squeeze as much performance as possible because upgrading will not work.

Also get refurbs. They are the same thing.

Second- macs have a high reselling. They don't depreciate quickly unless you abuse them, have scractches all over, dents, etc...
I've upgraded the RAM and hard drives on all of the MacBook Pro's that I've owned over the last few years. RAM is really simple, hard drives are a little more complicated, but not that bad. Helps if you've been inside a computer before of course.
