I have been a Mac user for the past 5 years...and today I purchased a new laptop just to use by the pool - I didn't want to spend $1300 on a MacBook because it is just for outside use - so I got a Toshiba w/ Windows 8. I want to throw it in the pool...this is the biggest pile of crap. Maybe it will take some time to get used to...but WOW...it is a complete pain to use! Does anyone like Windows 8??? I can't believe how bad this thing sucks.

At first, I don't like Windows 8 because it's so different. But when I got used to it, it's already fine for me.

Windows 8 sucks ass. I bought another laptop and made sure it had Windows 7 on it.

I would reformat the hard drive and install Windows 7. Not a total waste.

When it comes to Windows, I am still on XP! Vista, 7 and 8 are all crap for me. Well, 7 was kinda cool, but XP still rocks. It's old, but gold. It seems that all new things suck, which is awful.

Anyway...calm down and ship it to me. Throwing it in a pool would be a total waste of money. By giving it to me you will get +rep!!! :p

I had to pay $50 more for a laptop with the exact same specs and the only difference was it had windows 7 on it. I felt it was worth the $50.

Really that bad? I'm in the market for new desktop and every setup I have seen has windows 8. Read nothing but bad things also.

I read somewhere that you can install Windows 7 interface over 8. Not sure though.

It took me a long time to get used to windows 8.
After you get used to it, it isn't too bad but I have since gone back to windows 7.
Windows 8 is probably OK if you are using a touchscreen.

Don't think Microsoft made a good move in losing the start menu and not having an option of turning the start screen off.

When I first got it, I thought the same thing, but then I got use to it and it's all good now, it will probably take you longer because you are a mac user.

I like Windows 8, and got used to no Start button within a week. Though there are some settings that need to be disabled to have a fully functioning PC. UAC and some other stuff like that is annoying. But I guess its to help non tech people avoid viruses and malware.

Hit the start button and start typing the program you want to use. That will speed up your workflow a little.

It's not that bad! It's much faster than windows 7. I have been using for a few months already. However, it doesn't support all software applications supported by previous windows versions.

Anyway, it's still a good choice. Just open your mind a bit and learn more about it.

Maybe the user experience isn't as good as in your Mac, but compared to Windows 7 it's way way better. Crazy fast boot time, one click to find applications, etc..

But I agree that it takes some getting used to :p
