I am IRL a certified music teacher

I can easily create a site that acts as a resource for teachers and students in every instrument. Have guest articles, a music teacher database by state and region and promote clickbank and amazon products.

Even if I rank #1 for every possible keyword, do you think the effort and time creating a site like this will bring in enough money to make it worth it?

What do you think a realistic monthy revenue for a site like this can be.

    Thank you.

    Go for it!

You can be the purplemath of music! If you can provide a true resource and become an authority website on the topic then you can later sell the websie for good money.

If you want to know how much you can make, that would depend on the monetization. Most authority sites use adsense so one simple way of checking its potential income would be to make a list of the keywords, and their exact monthly searches and their CPCs. Get the total number of searches and average of the CPCs. Mutliply the total searches by 0.1 (for the numbers of visitors coming to your webpage depening upon its initial google search ranking) and then by 0.02% (for a really low CTR) and mutliply that by the average CPC.

The good thing about such a website is that if it gives a true reason for people to visit, then it will natually start getting backlinks.

If you start by selling amazon products and clickbank products as well then the potential for $ will surely increase.

If you upload video to YouTube then you can definitely get paid for your views.
Also, you can charge for for lessons online :) Good luck with it...

Just a suggestion for you if you go forward with this...make sure you have a section, perhaps a series, where you walk students through 'how to read sheet music'...you could do video exercises, etc.

This can be a very profitable niche, but really ... for start focus on one niche. You can make a lot of money selling guitar lessons, in comparison to selling harpe or xylophone lessons.

It'll also be a good idea to offer them something free at first, like modes, scales, chords and some basic training exercises, and maybe a few tests, and after they progress, they will be hooked up if your lessons are really good, that they will buy membership just to progress further.

I think you got something. Try and make sure you reach home school people, and non-dom churches.

these two are always looking for music lessons.

I , myself am good at playing the stereo. don't know how to make a profit on that though.

    Best of luck.

It's certainly a niche that can work, as seeing that you're a teacher, that makes things much easier. :)

I say go for it, it's best to try something new than not try. ;)

Buy a copy of the 4 hour work week by Timothy Ferriss. Focus on the idea of making a niche specific product that you can market and sell to potential customers.

even if the site totally fails from a monetization standpoint, you can still use it to help promote you as a music teacher - either for getting new clients or for increasing your rates

I personally think that sites in markets like music lessons will always go further if they have an individual personality who's passionate what they do behind them.

Probably, it might succeed with monetization on the first attempt or not, but this kind of niche is where you can sell lots of potentials goods as long as you build a comfort zone round your customers.

Yeah, being passionate about the topic and having some authority as a music teacher will definitely get your site a long way.

Or just read/download it in PDF form here:
You can find the ebook on the pirate bay, which makes for good listening during your commute. I also agree about the home-school market...man, a membership site geared to teaching something simple like early childhood music skills would be great...throw a year's worth of video lessons up there and set up an amazon store with links to musical instruments, could do well. Plus, since you're already putting together lesson plans for your day job, why not just do a private video at home where you're speaking to your internet classroom?

Thank you for all your help and motivation.. I went and found a great domain name. It has 2 keywords but doesn't sound cheezy.

I'll let you all know how it's going in a few months....
