So, the average time spent by a user on his website is just 53 seconds or something like that. I was thinking about advising him to embed YT videos in his articles. I am thinking that this would increase the average time spent and in turn this might increase the AdSense revenue. What do you think about this plan?

Test and see
will improve the SEO

Embedding relevant YT videos can boost engagement and ad views, worth trying!

Let us know how it worked out, data is beautiful.

Embedding YouTube videos is an effective strategy for increasing user engagement and session duration, improving user experience, and potentially increasing AdSense revenue. By following the best practices for embedding and optimizing video, you can use this method to benefit your clients websites.

time is an important aspect is you want more revenue from adsense. But you want to increase the revenue then focus on high CPC keywords and place ads on good place where chances of clicks increase.

Not only time on site, embedding YT videos can affect the ranking, so bear that in mind.
It can sometimes improve it and in other cases can drop it (I think it has something to do with the Oct or Sept 2023 updates).

Even if embedding YouTube videos would increase the time spent on page, it is not a fix for the actual problem.

Focus on the actual problem instead of trying ’hacky’ fixes.

Your site’s user experience is crap.
Either the articles are bad or the site itself is just shit.

Too many ads, intrusive ads, annoying layout, slow page load, whatever is the root problem, you need to focus on that.

YouTube videos themselves can rank in search results and embedding them can improve the website's overall SEO by increasing dwell time. If the videos aren't directly relevant to the content, they may distract users from reading the article.

It's a good idea for SEO and creating a richer article, I don't know if it will increase the adsense revenue but it deserves a shot

Generally speaking, adding videos does not really help much. People don't click on the video option unless they are regular and repeat visitors.

If you want people to stay longer, try writing content that is more readable. I have learnt this technique while writing for Copyblogger and it does help in increasing reader's on-site time.

Send me an article link in private message and will re-write the article's opening paragraph as a sample so that you can understand it.

It's a good idea, but you should be careful. If not implemented well, it could be more distracting than engaging, potentially leading to even less time spent on the site.

You could consider improving the quality of the content to ensure it's informative and compelling. Adding interactive elements like quizzes, polls, or infographics can also enhance engagement by making the experience more dynamic. You could also try optimizing your website design for usability and speed which could encourage visitors to stay longer and explore more pages.
