Hi guys. So I spent sleepless days and nights researching authority websites and decided to make one. But a question that I have is lets say I start to produce content and make all the categories then google ranks my content. If I find new information that is not in any of categories and decide to make a new one, will it affect my rankings?

Also is it really true that if I link to my other pages once in a while it really helps with rankings?

Answer : No the homepage will pass link juice to your inner pages.

Answer : Not once in a while, you should do it often, inner linking never hurt your website.

Cutts has said that more content will not necc improve rankings for your main keywords - however that being said it does several things.

    1) It gives you more "hooks in the water" more chances that Google will like some page or other.
    2) It allows you to build authority by creating pages/posts on associated topics. This is a good signal for Google and also good vor visitor retention
    3) It allows you to draw traffic (SE or otherwise) from a much broader base - a full niche rather than a sub niche or whatever scale it is you are working on

Having a site with hundreds of well crafted pages on a broad topic will allow you to market meany different products or keywords.

However - you will need some offsite SEO for all of them as well. Every viable page or post will need at least a few links - and that will take time and require a great deal of care.
