  1. I am pretty new to all of this but I am going in head first trying to get up on google searches without paying serious bucks that I don't have so I am trying to learn the art of SEO.

Anyways, what I have been doing is using forums for back linking, and after reading a lot on here I got the idea of quoting posts that have links in them, but changing their link to mine and using their link as the anchor text. When you look at the post the quote looks normal except that my link is behind theirs. Does anyone use this method with success? I used to use links in smilies, but I figure that google might have caught on to that by now. Does anyone know what effect the anchor text has? Does it really need to be something related topic wise to your site or is it ok if it is kind of random?

Sorry my reply has nothing to do with what you're asking but unless you're email address is not your main one the email address you're using as your username is going to start getting spammed to death once GoogleBot gets a hold of it, unless you're using a trick I am working with...

EDIT: Since you sound like you want to learn something I thought I would edit my reply to be helpful...

First of all you're in a brilliant place to start learning :). There are alot of techniques discussed on here that require the use of expensive softare such as Xrumer and SENuke X, although if you have a lot of time up your sleeves, you can nearly achieve these expensive software's results with good free alternatives (look in the downloads section of BHW). Also what type of SEO are you wanting to get into, BH or WH or both?

I first got into SEO in early 2008 and thanks to some Indians I was able to grasp it pretty well. Backlinking to similar niche sites, looking at page layout (asking visitors for feedback in my early stages helped me learn), looking at keyword to content ratio, making sure the html/css/javascript/php wasn't too mangled up are a small collection of things I use to try and rank on Google. Also keeping your eyes on news to do with Google algo updates is advisable. I am still learning however, as SEO in general is somewhat complex and will always throw up tricks and turns you will need to keep up with. Once you start ranking well for your keywords you'll feel really happy (am ranking on front page of local and .com google for some search terms - ones I am wanting to rank for), you just got to keep yourself on top of these rankings.

  5. Honestly whatever will work. I have done all I can to my site to make it SEO friendly, but stlil learning about that. I am very familiar with web forums. I actually own one, so that is a natural place to start, but I plan on learning more about optimizing my website also. Sometimes when I try and read about the coding involved it make my eyes glaze over.

P.S. Thanks for the tip on the screen name. I must have messed up when registering. I messaged the admin and hopefully they will either delete my account or change my name.

It will work, but you'll spend days if you do it manually. Using a service like xrummer will help you speed it up - even if you for a small order like 1000 links to start.
