I have recently begun my venture into making an authority site. I was tired of all my light micro niche sites being washed away from updates.

The past 2 weeks I have been writing an article a day based on keywords with 100-400 exact searches per month. I was wondering if this was a viable way to make an authority site compared to focusing on just a few bigger keywords.

Another question I have with this is what about seo. For 5 of my keywords I am ranked in the 9th, and 10th position without any backlinks, should I continue to write articles and hope that my constant updates will build my authority, and eventually my pages will be ranked without seo, or should I try some light seo, and not try to over do it.

After two weeks I have yet to find a constant stream of visitors, but I'm hoping that will come soon.

Thanks, and if my site turns out to be even relatively successful I'll be sure to write a guide on it here.

Yes it works, but if you can ramp up your article writing to 10 a day you'll see the visitors come faster.

I have a couple guest blog sites based on this model and after a few months the traffic is significant. I also bookmark posts.

Having daily articles posted on your website is going to help a lot,but you'll definately need Seo to hit the high traffic keywords.Creating a safe link profile for your website is also going to help in case some competitor decides to do negative seo.
Also, you should think about outsourcing the content writing, its eating a lot of valuable time ;)

    Good luck!

I have thought of outsourcing, and I have a few smaller sites that I'm currently doing seo campaigns on, so when those start making money ill start using that money to outsource content
