I am a current seller on ebay and a buyer has scammed me out of approximately $800. I have tried to explain to both ebay and paypal support that the buyer is lying about the item but both have told me I have not choice but to pay the negative balance. I do not want to pay it and will do everything to get out of it.
If I do not pay off the balance will it affect my credit? My SSN and bank account + card is linked to paypal. How can I get out of paying for it?

Very likely yes. If it goes to collection it will be on your credit as a derogatory mark, and even when you pay it off it will stay for up to 7 years (check that not sure exactly how many years)

I'm not recommending you use this to your advantage, but you'll not be affected

Yes it could, but only since you put your SSN into the account.
This would only happen if it was sent to collection.
