I was thinking about selling "T shirts" with my own designs. Maybe I can mess around with Adobe illustrators and try to create my own logo or illustration. And I wanted to add slogans... that's just ordinary slogans or phrases, for example like "I'm a BALLER" which I may not use that particular phrase, but since it is a commonly used phrase and there are tons of t-shirts with that phrase. Will I get sued if I put that phrase on my t-shirt? And, if I create my own phrase... How would go by copyrighting? Because according to my cousin who sells t-shirts... he say that it is no way to copyright a slogan! Just logos and names?

Can someone please lend me some honest information? I will be sure to thank you.
