Will i loose my domain if i host it on someone else`s hosting?

    Hello BHW members,

    I have a question, will i loose my domain or will it be stole if i host it on another personal hosting account?

    I have a domain on godaddy and i want to host it on another persons hostgator hosting account, can anyone explain me will i loose my domain and is there a possibility for this?

    you will not loose your domain name, unless you give it registration details to other person.

    No because the webhost doesn't have access to your account with your domain registrar. You simply set the nameservers for the webhost from your domain's control panel.

    Is it possible for someone to host my domain, i mean i just have to update his namservers in domain details, also yes i am not giving any account details to him, i will just update the nameservers!

    Thanks for replying, i have another question, i have registered a new domain recently with discount and now if i move this domain to another domain registrar, will i have to pay any money for it? i mean i already have one year domain extension so why would i have to pay for the transfer?

    You have to pay for a domain transfer because it automatically renews your domain for another year.

    is it renew with extension or just a one year from the date of transfer? I mean if i have domain already with 1 year registration, will i the auto renew on transfer will extend the years or it will be 1 year from date of transfer?
    Sorry for too much questions! :p

    It will add one year to your domain's expiration date.

    very true but.. it will remain the same if it's transferred with the same registra company

    Yes a domain push within the same registrar would leave the expiration the same (and is free), but for whatever reason, the OP wishes to transfer it to another registrar.
