Let's say, my website is best-sport-equipments.com

What if I write technology or home decoration related articles on it? For example: best routers for 2017 or best chairs for office. These topics aren't even nearly related with my domain name. Will I face any downfall in my conversion?

Have you had such situation where your conversion went down for irrelevancy in domain? Or has it remained the same as buyers don't scrutinize much.

Please do let me know, any response is appreciated.

There's no relevency though, as you point out.

Someone seeing your site name ( as in your example ) would click to visit your site to read about sports gear, not to read about the latest office chairs.

I know it's pretty much common sense that readers can turn away if the domain is irrelevant. But however, I'd like to know if there are any experience you had on the matter. And if there's any statistic data to prove it, it would be awesome.

I'd really like to know if the CTR from google searches varies with the domain name.

And thanks for taking the time to rplyin to me, mate.

Well you can in fact create a sub-segment on your website, and put those other articles there instead, and let the search engine do its work. Of course, your main readers on your main page won't be affected in the process, and you will have a sub-segment that caters a different readership on your blog. Sometimes, Google may even favor those sub pages of yours, in which they may even list those up on their search engine.
