Auto Blog are copying contents and also I saw other site copying contents from other site, like News articles and other contents. Is this okey if we copy contents from other site and put it on our site?

If not. Will we go to jail if we do this? Or the author or the source will warn us to not do it again?

Pls. answer this questions for those already experience this or know a lot of copying contents is really a big Illegal..

We really need an answer for this.. Thanks..

Normally it's a cease and desist letter that comes first.

This is tricky. Depends on how many other exact copies already exist on the web. If you reference the original source (using a non clickable link) you should be fine. It all depends on how copyrighted the original source is.

Well I seriously doubt that a police officer is going to come to your door without prior notice and just take you to jail for copying content. Content is stolen every day including articles/books/entire sites and what not.

IF you are even caught stealing articles or content, you will probably receive a warning from the owner to stop your actions, but it really depends on where your taking these articles from, because I doubt they'll even bother to look for duplicate content.

But what if you stole articles from big companies like yahoo, cnn and other big companies that post articles to their sites everyday. I am just curios about this, cause I saw a lot of people doing this everyday.

Well if its from big sites there are always a lot people copying. They don't throw people in jail for that. I have borrowed a few things over the years, everyone does it and I have got a few letters and just removed the content. Sometimes its a very polite request and I just always comply. If I do get a letter from a lawyer its a C&D and they usually give you 30 days to comply. Just remove it and your good.

Under US law, copyright violations are a civil offense, not a criminal one, so you won't end up in jail. Depending on the severity of the offense, though, you might lose your hosting and/or ISP accounts and might be sued for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars.

The law may be different in other countries.

Your not going to go to jail man. If that were the case I've got enough copied content to serve 100 years in prison. lol

I know a guy who knows a guy who had a massive blog farm of auto blogs.
He now sits on Death Row for his blogging crimes.

Copyright infringement is usually only punished by fines and restitution anyway. They have too many people who have done much worse to put in jail that to bother with the likes of a plagiarist.

Wait! I thought they executed Ol' Jim?

His last meal was a 6-pack of Yoo-Hoo and a box of Little Debbie Zebra Cakes...

It like the little goldfish crackers the kids
would throwout to it. Would you believe
a sealion would eat those things?

Problem is the kids then would come over
and ask to have my goldfish crackers.

    Oh..wait..you meant about swiping content.

    My bad.

depends on what country you live in.. and depends on how much money you make off of it. You're more likely to be sued than jailed. ..and only if it's worth it for them to sue.
