I put phrase "free kodak camera" several times on one of my pages because it's the search term I target on Google. Say I want to target "free kodak cameras" as well, can my page get ranked high on Google for term "free kodak cameras" by simply linking to my page with anchor text "free kodak cameras"? . My page doesn't contain phrase "free kodak cameras" at all.

    Thanks

Yes - if you have enough links with that anchor.

    This is quite good advice....
    I would say :
If you have enough number of quality backlinks pointing back to you page with the targeted keyword as you anchor in that links than you can get at the top.

    This is an example:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=click+here&rlz=1R2SKPB_enHR333&gl=us

this page don't have word "click here" in the title and other parts of that page, but it is on the top google spot, because people are using that keyword as the anchor for backlinks.
This proves that backlinks playing major role in google SERP's.

In most cases there are plurals and singulars on both the singular und plural search pages. And even more. Such as "Kodak Easy Share Software". At least that´s what Google shows me when searching for free kodak camera(s). That proves enough backlinks can get you there. Search results are broad match results. So you do not only see exact matches listed there.

Yeah when I'm creating backlinks. I use various different kws as the anchor text and link to different pages in my site. This way I can rank for several kewords rather than trying to go for the tough one.

Not only that but here is just a general rule of thumb to get ranked for your keywords. Not only should you check for the singular and plural but you should also(if applicable) check for keywords(if you have any) that can end in ing such as plumber, plumbers, and plumbing.

Just a though though the last bit would not work for your situation.
