Will I get a penalty for dupe content if I have the same intro text on every page?

In my Wordpress theme I wanted an intro text section so I could outline what the blog was about, no matter what page you were on. Will Google give me a penalty to my SEO for this as dupe content?

Why don't you have the text but not in text form, have it as an image :)

    105 word long.

And yeah, an image is a great idea! Thanks!

Be careful using an image with that many words.. 100 words in an image that is not a caption of a picture will probably be flagged if you hit a manual review, it will probably count as hidden text.

Why not hide it in a flash or javasript slider or Johnson box, or an ad rotator.

If your content on those pages is above 700 words I wouldn't sweat it

That would have been my thought... enough other content on the page would be fine... I might go a little higher than 700 words but I bet Tex is correct.

That length is not considered as duplicate content. Dupe content counts for a page with title and content body

As for me, I always put those 100 words in the sidebar with good image and my signature :)

Now you can write as much content as you like without worrying about this repeated paragraph. A simple insert html widget can do the job. Don't forget to give it a unique color.. font.. and spice it up a little bit

It is definitely a bad idea and having it as an image may be a better option.

I normally do this having a widget on the side of every page instead of the words inside the article itself.

Alternately you can put that content in an iframe as google can not craw it so you will just have the unique content from the rest of the page

For 100 words, I'd recommend you to have +700-800 words per article to avoid dupe content.
