Your service will sale, not your 'goofy ad' If you have shinning graphics and your service sucks. Trust me, within 3 months, your thread will be DEAD.
What service are you planning to offer?

You'll need to show your creativity before anyone will be ready buy something from you.

    1. You need good graphics
    2. At least seven stars in the title ★★★★★★★
    3. Bombastic packages' names - try to get inspiration from the latest movies, for example 'Game of Thrones'; use the midget name for small packages and giants names for the large ones
    4. Good introduction - tell us about the latest SEO trends + state thats the service is Panda/Penguin safe (dont be afraid to lie)
    5. Fake some SERP charts and get reviews on Freelancer
    6. Profit

Now seriously. You'll have a buyer if you skip the crap and go straight to business.

I actually prefer simple text rather than those transformers and lady gaga. So you need not worry about this and concentrate on providing a good service

Here's the deal. Above all, you have to come across as a PROFESSIONAL. Fancy graphics and such are certainly eye-catching, but I want to hand my money to someone who I can trust going into business with. Take the time and care to proofread your sales thread (I HATE seeing sales threads in broken English, it suggests to me sloppiness and a willingness to cut corners). Format it well, so I can find the information I want to see: the breakdown of your service, your rates, and examples of reviews/results.

You may not get a flood of newbies in your thread asking if they're eligible for review copies, but I bet you'll pick up a number of seasoned vets around here (assuming, of course, your service is good) that'll bring in ten times the income you'd get from folks who have no idea what they're doing or talking about.

^^^ This x10. Those fancy greaphics and stuff are good at catching ppl's eye, but that's all they do. If someone opens your sales thread and sees 1 shit review after another, they're going to pass on your service. Most importantly though is this:
In reality those are the types of customers you'll want anyway. They're also the ones that will know a good thing when they see it, regardless of the ad. It might take you a little longer to get things rolling, but if you're offering a quality service sooner or later people are going to pass the word along. I'd go for it, you have nothing to lose. Technically you do have to pay a few bucks to get it setup, but don't ever think that something won't work just because others have made theirs look more shiney. You may need to have a little patience, but if you're service is top notch, you're going to be the one shining, no matter how plain your initial ad was.

Not really OP... Don't get hung up on the graphics side of things, if your offer is solid the quality will shine through anyway, don't get me wrong I know I use them in most of my services and I don't fault anyone that does but if you look at my most successful service "Speed Rank" you'll see that it's mostly written in text, there is a lot of services around here just using text, also a good point to make is text is much better for SEO purposes as it will actually be indexed and BHW is a serious authority and parasite so you can imagine the potential here if your OP is written right.

Depends on what you are selling. If its a straightforward service then text is fine. If its a ten layer inverted pyramid method with special sauce then you need the showbiz.

Its not going to cost you a lot of dough to put up a simple landing page anyway and Im sure theres a few unknown designers around here who would do you one for free if they can get a mention or use it in their portfolio.

Never Trust Words....Always Trust Works....If you are Good at What you Do Best..and provide Honest Work...Make your Work Become your Brand..Grapho's Help People Eyes Catch..But Never Last for Long if you not Good at Work...We All BHW members Saw Many People Banned Due to Not Deliver what they Claim...So Best Suggestion is to Make sure YOUR Work is as Good as your Graphic..Otherwise Graphic not Much.

    Happy new Year..Welcome 2015.

I don't have a goofy pyramid graphic related to the newest finance movie and I'm still doing decent with my BST.

Just offer them guaranteed rankings, that's always a great idea... right?

I barely ever read all the fancy text, anyway. Normally just see who's selling, what they're offering, and what reviewers are saying. Offer some free reviews to some respected members, and you should be all good.
