I have a website that performs ok in the SERPs but i can get the hosting much cheaper elsewhere.

Just want to know if it will cause any issues if i move it.

If it will i will just stay at the current host.

Fundamentally, changing web hosts should involve setting up the site at its new location completely, then making DNS changes to point the domain name to the new hosting location and ensuring search engines are properly crawling the web site at its new location. Then and only then should you close down the old hosting location.

+1 and if you mess up the permalinks or had some downtime, kindly be prepared for a drop on your SERPs

If it's faster go for it, otherwise don't.
Hosting might affect your rankings but for a limited time only, you will bounce back on track in no time.

    I would not recommend it!

Thats mean you will have more neighbour, and way more chance to get in trouble, surrounded with crappy sites. Thats doesnt worth 5 bucks savings a year...
For money site, the more expensive the better. (And the faster too...)

As with many SEO related questions, the short answer is, “It depends”. The first thing to clarify is what “changing” means. Outside of changes to content, keyword usage and incoming links, common changes to a web site that affect search engine visibility include:
    • Changing domain names
    • Changing content management systems
    • Changing design
    • Changing web hosts

Yes it will likely affect your SEO especially if not done correctly. Not all hosting company are the same, so provided you messed up something with your move plus the new hosting has poor uptime, then you will probably have some decline in rankings.
