If someone were to send fake Twitter followers to my Twitter account without my knowledge or permission, will this dilute my account? Will having fake followers cause my tweets to be seen less by my followers?

In some ways yes. Firstly you want to aim for interactions more than followers
It will look weird it you have 65k with 1 favorite.

Add me on skype as i help alot of people out with this.

not at all, it will just make you seem more popular than you are. If you have 15,000 followers and 3,000 are fake you'll think that you have 15k real followers instead of 12k followers.

Not true at all actually. People have smartened up and everyone knows about buying fake followers as it was promoted to all hell on IG and twitter. The general population is aware of fake followers and when your interactions dont match up..well..you look like a fake.

Yes, this is true. However, whenever I tweet something, only a set percentage get to see my tweets. Wouldn't this mean that a smaller percentage get to see my tweets?

I know Facebook only lets a certain amount of fans/friends see your posts. But on twitter all of your followers should be able to see your tweets. Also having fake followers can help and hurt your page.If you don't have a good amount of real followers that actually retweet/fav and take interest in your tweets daily.

I thought Twitter and other social media sites have similar algos for their home feed. If everybody can see the tweets, then I guess there is no issue of dilution :)

Yes but if you have 50,000 real followers and 5,000 fake followers, how are people supposed to know that 5,000 are fake? Almost every twitter profile has at least 1 fake follower, with the example I gave with having 15k followers and 12k being real, do you think that you'd be able to distinguish that the account has fake followers just because a post has 100 favorites instead of 105? You'd have to go through each and every individual follower to find out.

Like most people are saying it can go either way, sure you may look like you have a big following but if you're not getting the right amount of engagement it doesn't really match up well. If you have the right amount of real to fake followers and your engagement numbers are good then I don't think it would be so bad! Good luck! :D

Your account will be fine. It'll just make your account look more popular and people will end up following back more.
