I just register a new domain name with the word jcpenney in it for promoting some of there products.

Jcpenney just got in trouble with google for buying backlinks & got peninalized for doing it.

Do you think google will ban or deindex my other websites when there hosted on the
same shared server as the jcpenney website is on.

Your site has nothing to do with jc penny getting a penalty so don't worry about it.

Oh, ok. That's a different story. You won't get sued, but your registrar will hand the domain right over if jc penny complains.

If that happens, no it won't affect the other sites you own.

It is sure that it will not affect to your website. They do not have force to do it.

It's not the niche, its the company that owns the trademark that makes the decision. OS it varies from company to company. So don't mess with Disney domains, for example.

You have to be careful about the domain name you choose. You need to check to see if there's a possibility that its a brand name.

It all depends on the name and whether or not the company wants to pursue it. A lot of movies games and tv show domains are registered well before their creator thought up the idea or are so generic that they really can't file a suit. For example I have sci fi science and the tv producer tried to get it and I just said that i registered it as a generic and was going to make a site and I had never heard of the show.
