    Hello,

So I need to put a Privacy Policy page on my website. There are a number of websites I can get this from but it will not be unique. My question is, would google detect this as duplicate content? If yes then what is the alternative?

All responses will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Not sure, but all you have to do is take a screen capture of the policy and post it on your website
as an image so Google's crawlers don't count it as article content.

I think you answered your own question in a way.

If you directly copy the content without re-writing/re-wording it, then yes as it's 100% the same as the original.

RabbitKing, I've heard google's spiders cant read text off images as well. If not then that is a good idea. In the event that it is detected as duplicate content would my site be penalized? if all the other articles are unique hand written.

No, it will not be a issue but Rabbit King does have a nifty idea to ease any worries so that would solve your issue.

On the other hand think about this... you own a Ford dealership and are putting content on your site about a F-250... how many other Ford dealers are saying the exact same thing?

Around a zillion or so is the answer... Google realizes there is only so many ways to say "A F-250 is a great truck!" and also realizes that the privacy policy is not an integral part of your site content and dismisses it as being duplicate content.

You are fine with a generated one using a plugin or using RK's idea as well.

I'd leave text information as text information... These days people use multiple devices with a myriad of different screen sizes. If you have an image it'll be impossible to read on some devices like a phone or you'll have to scroll back and forth constantly. Chances are that customer, user, whatever is going to leave. Many users who read a privacy policy will also not read the entire thing, they can't do ALT+F on an image to search for the term they're looking for.

Any, possible, benefit you might get from Google will be outweighed by the customers who leave. If you're really concerned then have a lawyer draft up an entirely new Privacy Policy.

I'm sorry mods, but I have no choice.

inkshock placed an order with me. His PM space is full. And he doesn't confirm receipt of my emails either. Perhaps they went to his spam. So he needs to delete his PMs and check his spam. So I can get in touch with him.

i had no way of sending this message to him. I am sorry mods but he would blame me otherwise.
