Most people use YouTube from mobile devices nowadays and, with the recent updates of the app, comments are no longer after the recommended videos.

Instead, they are now in a section that must be opened with a tap.

I guess now fewer people will read them, and maybe they will lose some of their ranking power.

It happened a few weeks ago. They have been playing around with the comments section for a while now. It was right under the videos last week. This week it's back in its original position.

I wonder if this will open up ways to exploit the new format...

In any case, if less people are seeing them, then it certainly sounds like they will be affecting ranking power.

When using a mobile browser Youtube asks me to "tap" in order to see the comments.
When using the Youtube App, it displays the comments already without needing to tap anything.

Ok, so the comments in the original position will come back in my country too. And I hope they will stay there.
