Usually I don`t run into these kind of questions but now I`m making a WH blog (a hobby of mine :) ) and I wonder if changing the theme or altering it can possibly affect the blog`s ranking? Usually I just choose a theme and never bother with it again but this is my pet project. Thanks.

Unless you have your meta tags or other SEO codes pasted into the index.php file, no.

Yeah, but I guess a plugin like "all in one seo" overrides a template "native" seo.

Not really, i think it's very small factor, the main factor for seo will be ur content keyword and external seo linking.

It will only in the fact that when spidered, the placement of your links are moved around. After 1-2 sessions with a spider, it will bounce back to were you were and beyond.

Yeah it can. When you change the theme, the entire code of the site changes. When the search engines spiders come back to the site, they will see an entirely different site.

I've seen several times, not all the time though, where doing this drops the site completely out of the index, although it usually comes back after 2-4 weeks if you keep everything else intact (metas, titles, page urls, etc.).

Altering the theme in minor ways on the other hand won't likely effect rankings at all.
