Ive noticed a number of people offering ebay traffic services as well as "item watchers".

The process seems simple enough you provide them with a link and within 24-48 hours they provide you with x100 watchers.

The other service is lots of hits to your link at least 2000 & a few additional watchers.

How risky are either of these strategies and is there a risk of your account getting banned/suspended as a result?

Any help or advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

not sure how risky but don't think its worth the risk. I've noticed watchers make little difference, expect its the same with traffic. Just start a new listing and buy 5-10 from a second account, you'll be straight near the top

eBay is not cool with feedback manipulation
"Buying" views could be viewed as your own promotions

I think it's ok if there are only view's and no feedbacks

Well you can promote your eBay stuff on Craigslist, facebook, etc
I don't think you'll be in any trouble for doing that

OK - so just tried it so far no issues, but the watchers did come pretty much instantly - and spread out over a few days as well.

As SirLoki rightly mentioned, i think its a promotional tactic more than anything else- so doesn't really fall under feedback manipulation etc. Not sure what it will do for us ranking wise, but we hope it helps to instill more buyer confidence for newer products.

I'm not sure how its done, whether they use bots, have 100s of ebay accounts with different IPs etc. but im sure if you did it too consistently and your listings when from no watchers to like 100+ overnight, this would be suspect especially if they wanted to go deeper and investigate the source.

It won't necessarily get you suspended, but yeah it can certainly draw the attention of a curious rep if you go overboard with it.

The main thing you have to worry about is your sell through rate. It's great and all if you listing has thousands of views and hundreds of watchers, but it doesn't mean a thing if no one buys your item. And if your sales don't improve drastically, then your sell through rate will plummet and so will your listing in search results, giving you the opposite desired effect of adding views/watchers.

Buying watchers for your auctions on eBay can get you the attention that you do not want.

You want to fly under the radar and not be noticed so buying watchers can turn out badly.

The trick to manipulating any online platform is based on organic manufactured growth. It would look kind of
strange to have all of those watchers and views with no bids or previous sales.

sorry but ill have to say it again, i know my name says noob but I'm not a noob on ebay and am a real stats/numbers freak. I've watched all this and can guarantee you watchers will make next to no difference, I expect they'll harm you more than anything else.
It really is simple, you start a new listing and use a second account to buy some (how many depends on how competitive it is) and then you'll move straight near the front. Their ranking is based almost solely on total sales and total sales/time. Don't need to pay with the second account and then cancel them a week or 2 later so you don't pay fees. Ditch the 2nd account and start another
