I had to create this thread with a better topic as it appears everyone on this site only reads threads with titles like "6000 directory list" 10 pr6 .edu list" etc etc

My question is if you submit an article to the directorys and host it on your blog will the big G see it as duplicate content and it have an adverse affect.

No because its not dupicate content its syndicated content. G should know that the version on your site is the canonical version. The whole point of submitting to ezine is to get syndicated anyway.

I used to re write my stuff before I submitted to ezine but I found out that its pointless.

No, to avoid this simple submit the article to your website a day before submitting it to ezine, most search engines will figure out that yours is original.

As mootonandy said anyway, most people tend to re-write their content before submitting it to these websites.

Yes, it will be considered as duplicate content. Google can detect same content on different URLs and filter duplicate pages from the results.

If it goes on your site before it goes on any other site then I am led to believe G will treat yours like its the master version.

I would recommend as said before to submit to your site first then let it indexed by google then post it to ezine articles site. Since I would assume you have a backlink from that article on ezine to your site google will see it as canonical to your site and will give you a credit for unique content.

As far as other situations besides ezine: Google can determine a duplicate content on your site even if it found that content on your site first, if your site is new, does not update with unique content very often, and has low PR rank in this situation content has been posted to high PR ranking site few days later after you posted and got it indexed on your website Google will see you as duplicating content and high PR site as original writer of the content. That is why lot of people prefer not to post their exact articles on other sites.

But lets say if the content is 2 years old on your site and you posted that exact content somewhere else then google will see you as original content writer.
